Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program
Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded TRIO programs designed to serve youth who have the potential to succeed in college but who may be educationally and economically disadvantaged. Educational Opportunity Centers of Pennsylvania operates ETS programs in the following target school districts: Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Area, Hazleton & Shenandoah Valley. In our ETS Program, more than 1,000 students in grades 7 through 12 are served every year, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that they graduate from high school and successfully enroll in a postsecondary program. In our program, the majority of our students are the first in their families to go to college. In many cases they are the first to graduate from high school.
ETS services may begin in the 7th grade, with the goal of making students and their parents aware that college is within their reach. Students become aware of the importance of a higher education to their future success by way of a variety of well-planned and executed activities. These activities include college visits, career counseling, tutoring and personal guidance, financial aid assistance, completion of the FAFSA, the PHEAA, financial literacy and scholarship searches. Parents become involved in the process early on, and are encouraged to support their children in pursuit of higher education.
ETS services also include professional tutoring for the SAT/ACT at the target school as well as a Summer College Boot Camp program to get our ETS students college ready!!
