Academic Specialist-TRIO Program

Territory: Scranton, PA & Pocono Counties

The Academic Specialist is responsible for conducting a comprehensive, recruitment, outreach and advising strategy to help adults how meet the TRIO guidelines with advancing their education. The Academic Specialist collaborates with referral agencies to ensure maximum success. The position requires a flexible schedule that includes day, evening and occasional weekend hours along with regular travel to counties in territory.

Qualifications: requires the minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in the area of psychology, education or counseling.  In addition, experience in working with diverse populations that include low-income, first-generation college students.  Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to create educational and interesting presentations. Excellent computer skills & the ability to think critically.

Academic Specialist-TRIO Programs: EOC & ETS Program

Territory: Hazleton Area, Luzerne and Lehigh Counties

The EOC Academic Specialist is responsible for conducting a comprehensive, recruitment, outreach and advising strategy to help adults who meet the TRIO guidelines with advancing their education. The EOC Academic Specialist collaborates with referral agencies to ensure maximum success. The position requires a flexible schedule that includes day, evening and occasional weekend hours along with regular travel to counties in territory.  This position works with two TRIO programs: Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) and Educational Talent Search (ETS). The ETS Academic Specialist will provide services to youth in grades 7th through 12th in a local target school.

Qualifications: requires the minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in the area of psychology, education or counseling. Seeking a bi-lingual candidate that has experience in working with diverse populations that include low-income, first-generation college students.  Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to create educational and interesting presentations. Excellent computer skills & the ability to think critically.
